Visiting Chile: Overview

Chile's distinctive shape, a sliver running north-south for some 2,000 miles with an average width of 110 miles, lends to its diverse landscapes. The entire country follows the spine of the Andes along the Pacific Ocean. In Chile you can find places to surf, ski slopes, remote deserts, lush forests, fjords, glaciers, and bustling cities.

Our tours and treks will take you to many of Chile's greatest destinations for experiencing its natural beauty. These trips include visiting national parks and outdoor activities: hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding. We offer you some of the best adventure travel options in the country.

Most visitors will arrive into Chile in Santiago. We also offer cultural tours of Santiago and to the surrounding areas. From Santiago you can visit the charming bohemian port city of Valparaíso and Chilean wine country.

Almost all of our trips can be customized. Contact us to customize your trip or to learn more about other activities and itineraries in these exciting destinations!

Atacama Desert

AtacamaThe Atacama Desert is one of the driest deserts on earth and located in Chile's far north or "El Norte Grande." This vast desert plateau boasts some of Chile's most beautiful and remote national parks and ancient Aymara towns.

In the northern part of the desert you can visit the stunning Lauca National Park with snow dusted volcanoes and one of the world's highest lakes, Lake Chungará, at 14,760 feet (4,500 m) above sea level.

In the southern part of the desert you can visit San Pedro de Atacama, a small town with adobe buildings. Nearby you can visit salt flats, geysers, giant sand dunes, and hot springs.

Lakes District/ Northern Patagonia

LakesThe Lakes District and Northern Patagonia can be visited together and considered a single region. Our 14-day Wild Patagonia itinerary combines hiking and horseback riding in the peaceful and pristine Cochamó Valley, known as Chile's Yosemite, in the Lakes District with kayaking the fjords of nearby Pumalin Park in Northern Patagonia.

Whether hiking or kayaking you'll see prisitine fjords, soaring mountains, granite domes, and tranquil river valleys. You can also follow in the footsteps of cowboys who settled in the region and experience wonderful local hospitality. We can also arrange for fly fishing trips in the unspoilt beauty of this often overlooked area.
