Colombia Getting There

Arriving From Abroad

Of the 13 international airports inside Colombia, the main travel hub by far is Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG). This is one of the busiest airports in all of Latin America. Almost all internal flights are routed through this airport. The airport has a main international hub with good Wifi access, but the separate domestic hub, not so much. Other major international airports that you might look into for flights include Medellín, Cartagena, Cali, and Pereira.

Traveling within Colombia

Good airline services exist to nearly every corner of the country, with major destinations featuring daily flights. Our air reservations partner here in the USA can help arrange flights, as can we, through local agencies within Colombia, for our trips. Airports in Colombia, even the smaller ones, are often surprisingly modern and maintained well.

When flying around Colombia, note that flights are generally routed through Bogota first. We expect this minor hassle to be corrected as tourism gets off the ground further here, but for now, we urge travelers to be aware of that when making multi-flight trips within the country.

Some destinations in Colombia are within easy reach by road, with the longer transfersbeing between 4-6 hours generally. On the road, like in many Latin American locales, be prepared for minor delays because of construction and repair.
