Lima

LIma City Tour (half day)

This is an ideal introduction to Peruvian culture, colonial and modern. Our tour guide will give us the history and details about many of the important buildings in the city center. A walk on the Plaza de Armes allows time to see the Cathedral and the Bishop's residence. A tour of the San Francisco Church nearby, takes us down into the fascinating catacombs. Pick up and return to Lima hotel. Price includes bi-lingual guide, transportation with driver, and entrance fees. Available any day.

Pachacamac Archaeological Complex (half day)

This half day trip takes us about 30 km southeast of Lima for a tour of the extensive archaeological complex. This area is comprised of palaces, temples and pyramids that pre-date the Incas, beginning with the Wari culture in the year 200 A.D. We will have time to climb the stairs to the top of the Sun Temple and visit the museum. Pick up and return to Lima hotel. Price includes bi-lingual guide, transportation with driver, and entrance fee. Available any day.

For a special treat, you can extend the afternoon tour by attending the Hacienda Mamacona for an extraordinary Peruvian Paso Horse Show, Andean dinner and folkdancing program. Starts at 16:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays only (3 hours). Let us know if you are interested in adding this to your Pachacamac tour or would like to book it independently.

Lima Museum(s) Tour (half day)

For those who want to see one or more of the city's museums, this half day trip is very worthwhile. Choose from any of the following museums: Larco Museum, Museum of Anthropology and Archeology, National Museum, Natural History Museum. Or if you have a specific request, we can arrange it. Pick up and return to your Lima hotel. Price includes bi-lingual guide, transportation with driver, and entrance fee(s). Available any day, but subject to opening hours of the specific museums.

When booking, you will need to let us know in advance which museum you prefer, so that times, prices, and museum openings can be assured. Pick up and return to your hotel. Usually there is time for only one museum, e.g., the Museum of Athropology and Archeology takes 2 1/2 hours to tour properly. If you would like two museums, we will try to coordinate those times.

Lima Culinary Tour

Starting around 10:00 a.m., we will first visit a market, for a demonstration of the different fishes, vegetables and fruits of Peru. As the bus takes us to a Cevicheria, we see an audiovisual about our traditional ceviche. In the Cevicheria, we will have a tasty presentation of ceviche.

Returning to the bus, we will have an entertaining audiovisual about the history and processing of Pisco. As we view this video, the bus will take us directly to the Ica Valley, to appreciate how Pisco is made. Guided visit to Pisco tavern and cellar, helps us learn how to mix Pisco Sour and other Peruvian cocktails. We will taste Peru's famous national drink, the Pisco. Enroute back to Lima, we will see a video about Peruvian food history, including comments from the most renowned Peruvian chefs.

There are two options for lunch:

  1. Culinary Gold - Lunch at typical Peruvian food restaurant. The lunch buffet includes the best and most traditional dishes of Peruvian cuisine.
