Rwanda: Visas
The information above is for informational purposes only. All travelers should check to see if entry requirements and fees have changed.
Who needs a visa?
Rwandan visas are NOT required by nationals of USA, Germany, Canada, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda, Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, Great Britain, Sweden, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Burundi.
A single entry visa to Rwanda costs US$ 60.
Other nationals can obtain them at a Rwanda Embassy in their home country, or we can arrange for visa at Kigali Airport or at land borders (extra $15). For these people, we need a copy of the visa 1 month before arrival, or we need the application form and copy of the passport if we are arranging it.
Ugandan visas ARE required by citizens of the European Union, the USA and Japan; other nationals should check. Visas can be obtained at Ugandan missions overseas or at Entebbe Airport or land borders. A single entry visa to Uganda costs US$ 50, and is good for three months.
How to get a visa
A valid passport is mandatory. Multiple-entry visas are difficult to obtain. Single entry visas are available without difficulty on arrival at Entebbe or Kigali airports, or at land borders into Uganda or Rwanda. We recommend clients obtain them on arrival.
You can get your Rwanda visa online:
Entry Requirements
- Your passport must be valid 3 months beyond intended stay.
- You must have tickets and documents for return or onward travel.
- We recommend at least 2 blank pages in your passport per country visited.
