Shoton (Yogurt) Festival:
This 5-day festival highlights Buddha paintings, Tibetan opera, dances, and yak races. The famous tangka portraying Qamba Buddha is unveiled at a special ceremony at the Drepung Monastery for a short two hours with thousands of spectators. The opera performances can be seen at Norbulingka, the summer palace of the Dalai Lama.
