Overview

Tanzania is a great safari location for families! The national parks are close together, so the driving distances are minimized, and there are a number of excellent cultural activities to enjoy.

Our sample safari itinerary tries to keep daily drives short, mixes game viewing with more active endeavors, combines hotels and tented camps, and offers a swimming pool every few days.

For cultural options, you can join a mock-hunt with the Bushman tribe (days 5-6), tour a Maasai Village, see fossils at the Olduvai Gorge, and visit a local orphanage. To stretch your legs, you can hike through the coffee plantations in Karatu to the elephant caves and waterfalls and walk around the Ndutu Crater at Arusha National Park.

We can arrange a hot air balloon ride in the Serengeti, but the minimum age for children is 7 years old.
